Light beige travertine, carved into an 18 inch bowl
This round vessel sink is carved by hand from a single solid block of light beige travertine quarried in Turkey, a region that has supplied natural stone for centuries. It measures 18 inches in diameter and 8 inches high, a generous bowl that still stays in proportion on a residential vanity. The veining, the shifts in color and the small differences in texture are all natural, so each sink is one of a kind rather than a copy of the last. What arrives is a carved stone basin, made by hand and finished piece by piece.
Design
A honed, filled surface
The surface is honed and filled. Honing gives the stone a soft matte face that feels considered rather than glossy, and water moving across it shows the depth and grain of the travertine. Filling closes the natural pits in the stone, so the surface is smoother, more even and better able to handle everyday water. The edges are curved, and the bowl is smooth inside, which leaves fewer ridges and crevices where dirt can collect. A matte travertine also catches light differently from a shiny one, giving quiet changes in tone through the day. Moderate color variation between sinks is normal, and the light beige may lean warmer or paler from bowl to bowl.

Where to use it
Warm stone for a primary bath
The light beige brings warmth to cool tile and painted walls. It works in a modern, minimalist bathroom, in a transitional one and in a traditional room, and it suits a primary bath redesign, a guest bathroom or a spa-style retreat equally. At 18 inches across and 8 inches high, the bowl is one of the larger round sizes, so it makes a clear statement on the counter and gives plenty of room for washing. A vessel sink is already one of the most visible choices in a bathroom, and carving it from natural stone makes it part of the architecture of the room. The 4 cm drain hole takes standard drain fittings.

Installation
A strong counter and a tall faucet
The sink installs above the counter, but solid stone is heavy, so the vanity must be flat, level and strong enough to carry it. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in silicone. At 8 inches high, the rim stands well above the counter, so the faucet must be tall enough to reach over it: a high deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Check the spout height and reach before ordering the faucet, and plan the counter cutout to match. A professional installer is recommended.

Care
Travertine is a porous calcite stone, so acidic liquids such as coffee, wine or citrus can mark and etch the honed surface if left to sit. Sealing keeps water and stains out, and how often it is resealed depends on use, typically once or twice a year.
