Travertine · Vessel sink

Round beige travertine with a split face

This round vessel sink is carved from a single block of light beige travertine quarried in Turkey. It measures 16 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, a size that gives the vanity a clear focal point without overwhelming a compact bathroom. The inside is honed smooth and the outside is split by hand, so the bowl pairs a quiet basin with a rough, textured exterior. Each sink has its own veining and subtle color variation, so no two look the same.

Design

Split face outside, honed inside

The split face exterior is the defining detail. The stone is broken by hand to leave a raw, uneven surface that catches light and shadow through the day and shows the layered structure of the travertine. Inside, the basin is honed and filled: the natural pits of the stone are closed and the surface is smoothed to a matte finish, which keeps the part that holds water even and practical. The contrast between the two textures is what gives the bowl its character. Moderate color variation between sinks is normal for this stone, and the split texture is never the same twice.

Where to use it

Where the round bowl fits

The light beige and rough texture suit contemporary, transitional and traditional bathrooms alike. In a powder room, where guests notice the details, the sink becomes the piece people remember. In a primary bathroom it can replace a plain builder-grade basin with something that feels deliberate. Because it sits on the counter, the bowl reads as a sculptural object, and the cabinet below keeps its full storage space. The 16 inch diameter leaves room on the counter around it, and the 6 inch height sits comfortably on a standard vanity top. The 4 cm drain opening takes standard drain connections.

Installation

Set it on a flat counter

The bowl sits on top of the counter. Solid travertine is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry it. One opening is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, the drain is connected, and the bowl is set in silicone, with no undermount work involved. Because the rim stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet must reach over it: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Choose the faucet before the counter is cut.

Why we chose it

  • One block of stoneCarved from a single piece of travertine, with no joints or seams.
  • Two texturesA hand split exterior for character and a honed, filled basin for daily use.
  • Ages with useNatural stone deepens in character over the years instead of looking worn.

Made to order

Made to order

This sink is made to order on two schedules: the 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. Both are the same 16 inch bowl. Because each piece is crafted by hand, custom sizes, alternate finishes and non-standard shapes can also be made when a bathroom layout calls for something different. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the vanity.

Care

Travertine is a porous calcite stone, so acidic cleaners and liquids such as vinegar or citrus can etch the honed surface. Sealing protects the stone, and how often it is resealed depends on use, typically once or twice a year.
