Toros Turkish Black Marble Polished Round Vessel Sink 16x5
Thank you, your request is in.
Our team will review the details and get back to you within one business day.

Marble · Above-Counter sink
This round vessel sink is carved by hand from a solid block of Toros Black marble quarried in Turkey. It measures 16 inches in diameter and stands 5 inches high, a low, wide bowl that sits fully on top of the vanity. Because each sink is shaped individually from natural stone, the veining, the depth of the black and the small shifts in tone are never repeated from one piece to the next. The finish is polished inside and out, so the dark stone reflects the light in the room and the veining reads clearly against the black. It is a fixture chosen for its material: one piece of solid marble, with no glaze or coating sitting on top of the stone.

Design
Black marble is a strong, quiet color for a bathroom. It reads as modern in a minimal room and as classic next to traditional cabinetry, and it works in contemporary and transitional bathrooms just as well. It pairs with brass, gold, matte black or chrome fittings, and the high-gloss polish picks up the color of whatever metal sits beside it. The polish runs over the interior and the exterior of the bowl, so the whole outside of the sink shows its sheen above the counter. Every surface is shaped by hand. The rim and the edges are rounded rather than cut sharp, which gives the bowl a soft outline and leaves no tight corners where soap and grime can collect. The natural veining runs through the full thickness of the stone, so the pattern on the outside continues into the basin. Moderate color variation between pieces is normal for this marble, and the exact layout of the veins differs on every sink.

Soft edges all the way around, with no sharp corners to chip or to trap dirt.

Where to use it
At 16 inches across and 5 inches high, the bowl suits a powder room vanity as easily as one basin of a primary bath. The basin is deep enough for daily hand washing and grooming, and the low profile keeps the rim at a comfortable height above the counter. A vessel sink also leaves the space under the counter free, since no bowl hangs down into the cabinet, so the drawers and shelves below stay usable. That makes it a good match for floating vanities, console tables and furniture-style pieces converted into a vanity, in a renovation or in new construction. The 4 cm drain hole takes a standard vessel drain, and the bowl works with a deck-mounted faucet beside it or a wall-mounted faucet behind it.

Installation
Installation is simpler than an undermount sink, because the counter needs only one hole for the drain rather than a full cutout. The counter itself must be flat, level and strong, since solid marble is heavy. The drain hole in the counter is cut to line up with the 4 cm drain in the bowl, and the sink is set in a bead of silicone. Because the rim stands 5 inches above the counter, the faucet has to reach over it: a tall vessel faucet on the deck or a wall-mounted spout. It is best to choose the faucet before the counter is drilled, so the spout height and reach match the bowl and the supply lines can be run to the right place. A plumber or stone installer can handle the drain and the final seal.

Why we chose it

Made to order
This sink is carved to order on two production schedules. The 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice for the same 16 by 5 inch polished bowl. If a different diameter, height or finish would suit the vanity better, the bowl can also be made as a custom piece. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the counter and the faucet planned for it.
Toros Black is a calcite marble, and like all marble it is a porous stone. Acids such as lemon juice or vinegar can etch the polished surface and dull the shine, and dark marble shows scratches from abrasives more readily than light stone. How often the sink is resealed depends on how much the bathroom is used, typically once or twice a year.
