Gray marble, carved into a polished bowl
This round vessel sink is carved individually from gray marble quarried in Turkey. The stone has a cool silver gray tone with natural striations and veining that give it depth, and each bowl shows its own subtle shifts in color, so there is no such thing as a duplicate. The finish is polished on both the interior and the exterior. At 15 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, the bowl sits on top of the vanity as its centerpiece without taking over the counter.
Design

Polishing brings out the natural luminosity of the gray marble and the dimension of its veining, creating a surface that catches the light and shows the layered depth of the stone. The striations run in fine lines through the bowl, and because they come from the stone itself, the pattern on every sink is different. The walls curve smoothly down to the drain, which helps water drain away without dead zones where it pools. The edges are rounded rather than cut square, so there are no harsh corners where grime collects and less time is spent on hard-to-reach spots. The neutral gray suits modern, contemporary, traditional and transitional bathrooms, and it pairs with satin brass, matte black or polished chrome fittings. The vessel form works with a minimal vanity as well as with more ornate cabinetry. Moderate color variation between pieces is normal for this marble.

Where to use it
A compact round basin
At 15 inches across and 6 inches high, the round basin gives plenty of usable space for hand washing and daily grooming without dominating the vanity. It suits a powder room or a guest bath and works equally well as a pair in a primary bath. The 1.5 inch drain hole accepts a standard vessel drain assembly, so installation works with ordinary residential plumbing. Because the bowl sits above the counter, the full carved exterior is on view.

Installation
Mount it above the counter
The counter must be flat, level and strong, because solid marble is heavy. A single hole is cut in the counter to line up with the drain, and the bowl is set in silicone. The rim stands 6 inches above the counter, so the faucet has to reach over it: a tall vessel faucet on the deck or a wall-mounted spout behind the bowl. Decide on the faucet before the counter is drilled, so the spout height, the reach and the supply lines all match the bowl.

Care
Gray marble is a porous calcite stone. Acids and harsh chemicals can etch the polished surface, and sealing helps it resist toothpaste, soap and mineral marks. How often it is resealed depends on use, typically about once a year.
