Silver Travertine round coffee table, honed
This round coffee table is handcrafted from vein-cut Silver Travertine quarried in Turkey, filled and honed. It is 36 inches in diameter and 16 inches high. The vein cut slices the stone along its natural layers, so the top shows flowing linear bands rather than the mottled look of a cross cut. Tones range from warm beige to soft gray, and each piece is one of a kind because of natural variation in the stone.
Design
Linear veins, matte finish
The filled and honed finish sets the character of the table. The natural pores of the travertine are filled with a paste by hand, and the surface is honed in several rounds to a soft, velvety matte. A matte surface conceals minor wear and lets small scratches blend in, and over time it develops a patina that adds to its character. Because the pores are filled, dirt does not collect in open pits. Beneath the top, a sculptural pedestal base carved from the same travertine gives the table visual lightness and architectural presence.

Solid travertine is heavy, so two or more people should carry the table and set it in place. The floor needs to be level so the pedestal sits flat. Felt pads under the base protect wood floors and tile, and moving the table later means lifting it rather than sliding it.

This table is made to order on two schedules: the 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, and the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice for the same size. Care
Silver Travertine is a porous calcite stone, here with filled pores and a honed surface. Acidic cleaners and drinks such as vinegar and lemon can etch it. Periodic sealing helps the stone resist stains, and how often it is resealed depends on use. The matte finish ages well, gaining a patina that suits everyday living.
