Toros Black marble, a polished round bowl
This round vessel sink is carved by hand from Toros Black marble quarried in Turkey. The stone is a deep charcoal black crossed by natural white and gray veins, and the veining runs differently through every block, so no two sinks are the same. It measures 17.5 inches in diameter and stands 6 inches tall, a size that sits comfortably on most standard vanities without crowding the counter, while the bowl is still deep enough for everyday hand washing and face washing. The sink is one piece of solid marble, polished inside and out, and it rests on top of the counter as the main feature of the vanity.
Design
Deep black with white veins
Toros Black is a dark marble, and that is its main appeal in a bathroom. Where pale stone can look flat under artificial light, the charcoal base and fine light veins of this marble keep their contrast at any time of day. The whole sink, interior and exterior, has a polished finish. The polish gives the stone a glossy surface that reflects the vanity light and brings out the depth of the black and the line of each vein, and the look shifts as daylight moves across the room. The rim and the walls are curved, with no sharp corners where grime can collect and fewer edges to chip. The bowl has no overflow hole, so the inside is a clean, unbroken curve of stone. Because the veining is natural, its spacing, direction and amount of white differ from sink to sink, and moderate variation between pieces is normal for this marble.

A glossy surface on the interior and exterior that deepens the black and sharpens the veining.

Where a black bowl works
A black marble bowl gives a vanity a strong, grounded center. It stands out against white, gray or light wood counters, and it sits naturally in a darker scheme with black hardware and matte walls. The round shape works in modern and minimalist bathrooms, in Mediterranean-style rooms and in more traditional settings, so the sink rarely forces a change to the rest of the design. At 17.5 inches across, it suits a powder room as well as a primary bath vanity with space on either side for a soap dish or tray. The 4 cm drain hole takes standard pop-up and grid drain assemblies without modification, which keeps the plumbing simple for an installer who has set vessel sinks before.

Installation
A flat counter and a tall faucet
The sink mounts above the countertop. Solid marble is heavy, so the counter has to be flat, level and strong enough to carry the stone without flexing. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in a bead of clear silicone to keep it in place and seal the joint. Because the bowl stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet needs to reach over the rim: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout both work. Since the sink has no overflow, a drain without an overflow port is the right match. The faucet and drain are best chosen before the counter is cut, so the holes and supply lines line up. A professional installer is recommended for the weight and the plumbing.

Care
Toros Black is a calcite marble with a polished surface. Like all marble it is porous, and acids such as citrus or vinegar can etch the polish and leave dull marks. Sealing helps keep moisture and stains out, and how often it is resealed depends on use.
