Product Description
Tuxedo Obsidian Black appears as a 2x2 polished porcelain mosaic with a solid black palette and a reflective face. Numerous small squares distribute highlights across the surface, creating a finer pattern of light than a polished field tile. The mosaic has a 9 mm, or 3/8 inch, thickness and belongs to a line that also includes larger tile and shaped accents.
The compact 2x2 pieces give walls a close geometric grid, while V1 shade variation keeps their black color notably consistent. Polishing increases the visibility of reflections across each small module. Rated applications are backsplashes, shower walls, and residential interior walls, covering specified bathroom and kitchen surfaces without extending the rating to floors.
At 0.5% water absorption or less, this porcelain meets the ANSI A137.1 definition of impervious material and absorbs almost no moisture internally. Breaking strength is a minimum of 325 pounds, above the ANSI floor-tile reference point of 250 pounds. A wet DCOF of 0.42 or greater meets ANSI A326.3 criteria for level indoor floors that become wet, though this polished mosaic's rated uses remain wall applications. It also resists frost and thermal shock.
The mosaic is sold by the sheet, with 0.97 square foot of coverage per sheet. Ten sheets make up a 38-pound box. Companion choices include 12x24 tile and diamond mosaic, plus Black and White matte and Black and White polished 2x2 mosaics.
