Marble · Above-Counter sink
This oval vessel sink is hand-carved in Turkey from Botticino marble, a warm beige stone with soft brown and cream veining. It measures 20.5 inches long, 16 inches wide and 6 inches high, and its walls are 2 to 3 cm thick. The oval outline gives a rounded, calm silhouette that suits modern, traditional and transitional bathrooms alike. Every sink is carved individually by stone specialists, so the color, veining and finish character of each piece are its own.

Design
Botticino is warmer in tone than most marbles. Its beige ground carries fine brown and cream veins that give the stone an organic look rather than a hard, bright one. It is also a fine-grained, dense marble, which lets the carver shape smooth curves and clean edges. The finish is honed on both the interior and the exterior. Honing leaves the surface smooth and matte instead of glossy, so water spots, fingerprints and daily wear marks show less than they would on a glossy surface, and the stone keeps a soft, quiet look that suits a bathroom. The edges are curved and the interior is smooth, with no sharp corners or hidden crevices where debris can gather, which makes daily cleaning simpler. Because each sink is hand-carved from natural stone, the color variation, veining pattern and small finish characteristics differ from piece to piece. Moderate variation is normal for Botticino. It is the sign of a genuine stone and an individual carving, not a defect, and it means the sink in one bathroom cannot be repeated in another.

A soft oval rim and a smooth basin with no corners to trap debris.

Where to use it
The sink can be installed two ways. Set on top of the counter as a vessel, it shows its full oval form and becomes the focal point of the vanity. Installed as an undermount, it sits below a stone counter and leaves a clean, flat surface around the basin. At 16 by 20.5 inches, the bowl fits a standard vanity without crowding it and still gives enough room for everyday washing. Designers often use a marble bowl like this against a contrasting vanity: dark wood, painted cabinetry or a light stone top all sit well with Botticino's beige. The 4 cm drain hole is standard and connects to typical plumbing. The sink ships as the basin only, so the faucet, drain assembly, overflow ring and mounting hardware are chosen separately, which leaves the finish of the fixtures open, whether brass, matte black or chrome.

Installation
For an above-counter installation, the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry solid stone, which is heavy. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in silicone. Because the rim stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet has to reach over it: a tall vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. For an undermount installation, the counter cutout is sized to the oval of the sink, the bowl is supported from below, and a deck-mounted faucet goes on the counter behind it. In either case, choose the faucet before the counter is cut, and plan to seal the stone at installation. A professional installer is recommended for an undermount.

Why we chose it

Made to order
This sink is made to order on two schedules. The 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. If the oval does not suit the vanity, it can also be made in a custom size or finish. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the counter.
Botticino is a calcite marble with a honed surface. Like all marble it is porous, so acids such as vinegar or citrus can etch it, and sealing slows how quickly liquids soak in. The stone is sealed at installation, and how often it is resealed after that depends on use.
