Calacatta Gold with a fluted exterior
This sink is hand carved from a solid block of Calacatta Gold marble quarried in Turkey. The stone has a creamy white base with veining in amber, honey and gold tones, and no two sinks share the same pattern. It measures 18 inches wide, 30 inches long and 8 inches high, with a fluted exterior and a polished finish. Because it is carved from a single block, there is no assembly and there are no seams. It can be hung on the wall or set on top of a vanity.
Design
Linear flutes in polished marble
The fluted exterior is the architectural detail of this sink. The linear grooves add depth, catch light and give the piece visual interest from every angle. The polished surface is reflective, which brings out the golden veining and helps a compact bathroom feel brighter. The interior and exterior share the same polish, and the edges are smooth and curved, which minimizes the crevices where dirt can collect and leaves no sharp corners to chip. The interplay of creamy white with amber and honey tones works in a transitional bathroom and sits just as well in a contemporary or traditional one. Moderate color variation between pieces is normal, and the veining of each sink is its own.

Where to use it
Wall-mounted or on a vanity
Hung on the wall, the sink keeps the floor clear of a vanity base, which gives a modern bathroom a lighter, more open look where every square foot counts. A 1.5 inch bracket system keeps the support structure out of sight. Set on top of a vanity, the same sink becomes the focal point of the counter. At 30 by 18 inches, the basin is generous enough for a primary bath, and the 8 inch height gives the fluting room to show. A standard 1.5 inch drain hole fits conventional drain fittings.

Installation
Plan the support early
Solid marble is heavy, and the weight is what keeps the sink stable for decades. For a wall installation, the wall needs blocking between the studs at the mounting height, added while the wall is open, and the brackets are fixed into that backing. A wall-mounted faucet works well with this layout, and its position should be set before the wall is closed. On a vanity, the top must be flat, level and strong, a drain hole is cut to line up with the drain, and the sink is set in silicone; the faucet must then reach over the 8 inch rim. A professional installer is recommended.

Care
Calacatta Gold is a calcite marble and, like all marble, a porous stone, so acidic liquids such as lemon or vinegar can etch the polished surface. Sealing helps the surface resist dirt and stains, and how often it is resealed depends on use.
