A compact white marble apron sink
Small kitchen spaces are hard to fit with a sink: an island prep station, a wet bar, a coffee or beverage counter, a kitchenette. This rectangular farmhouse sink is made for exactly those spots. It is carved by hand from European white marble quarried in Turkey and measures 18 inches long, 12.5 inches wide and 5 inches high. The apron front is finished like the rest of the stone, so the face of the sink stays visible and becomes part of the cabinetry. The surface is semi-polished, and each sink carries its own natural veining and subtle variations in colour, so no two are identical.
Design
A semi-polished apron front
Semi-polishing sits between a matte and a high-gloss finish. The marble has a soft sheen that catches light across the grain, without the mirror shine that shows every water spot. The finish covers the inside of the basin and the exterior, including the apron. The walls are carved 2 to 3 cm thick, and the edges are curved, so there are no sharp corners where debris can collect and the basin drains cleanly. The white marble has natural veining that runs differently in every piece, and moderate color variation between sinks is normal for this stone.

A soft sheen inside and out that shows the grain without a high gloss.
Curved edges
Rounded corners and 2 to 3 cm walls, with no tight spots for debris.
Where to use it
Islands, bars and kitchenettes
At 12.5 by 18 inches, this sink fits where a standard kitchen sink will not. It gives a kitchen island a dedicated prep sink, it suits a wet bar or a secondary beverage station, and it works in a compact kitchenette or a bathroom. The 5 inch height keeps the basin shallow enough for rinsing glasses, produce and hands. White marble sits easily in modern, traditional and transitional kitchens, and it pairs as well with brass fittings and warm wood as it does with matte black hardware. The 4 cm drain hole takes typical drain fittings without custom modifications.

Installation
Plan the cabinet around it
The sink installs above the counter with its apron front exposed, so the cabinet or counter opening should be sized to the sink before work begins. The supporting surface must be flat, level and strong enough to carry solid marble. A hole lines up with the 4 cm drain, and the sink is set in silicone. Choose the faucet early: a deck-mounted faucet tall enough to clear the rim, or a wall-mounted spout, both work, and the supply lines should be run to match. A professional installer is recommended for the weight and for a clean fit against the cabinetry.

Care
White marble is a porous calcite stone, so acidic foods and liquids such as lemon or vinegar can etch the semi-polished surface. Sealing protects against stains, and how often it is resealed depends on how much the sink is used.
