A round Calacatta Viola marble bowl
This round vessel sink is carved by hand from Calacatta Viola marble quarried in Turkey. It measures 15.5 inches in diameter and stands 4.5 inches tall, a low, open bowl that sits on top of the vanity counter and gives a generous washing area without rising too high above it. Calacatta marble is known for a bright white background and bold, thick veining, and in this stone the veins run through the bowl in dramatic lines that change with every angle. Because each sink is hand-sculpted from its own block, no two are identical. The sink is pure stone, with nothing added to it, and it is polished on the inside and the outside.
Design
Bold veining, a polished finish
The polished finish is what gives Calacatta Viola its luminous quality. Polishing brings the colour of the veining forward against the white, and the glossy surface reflects light around the bowl, so the sink brightens the vanity it sits on. Inside and outside share the same finish, which lets the veining read continuously from the rim down to the base. The bowl is a smooth round form with curved edges, and its gently sloped interior lets water run to the drain rather than pooling in corners. A polished surface is also straightforward to keep clean, since there is no open texture for residue to settle into. The glossy stone sits well against matte wall tiles and contrasts clearly with matte-black faucet finishes. Each sink shows its own arrangement of veins, and the pattern on the one that arrives will be unique to it.

Where to use it
A low bowl for the vanity
The round vessel form sits above the counter, which turns the sink into a visible piece of stone on the vanity and keeps the area around it easy to clean. At 4.5 inches tall, the bowl is lower than many vessel sinks, so the rim stays at a comfortable height on a standard vanity and the faucet does not need to reach as high. The 15.5 inch diameter gives enough room for washing while leaving counter space on each side on a single vanity. The standard 1.5 inch drain hole accommodates most drain fittings. Calacatta Viola has strong colour, so it works best where the sink is meant to be the feature: next to plain wall tile, on a simple wood or painted vanity, or with a dark faucet that picks up the tone of the veins.

Installation
Set it on a flat counter
The sink is made for above-counter installation and comes ready for it. Solid marble is heavy, so the vanity top must be flat, level and strong enough to carry it. A drain hole is cut through the counter to line up with the sink's drain, and the bowl is set in silicone around its base. The rim stands 4.5 inches above the counter, so the faucet must reach over it: a deck-mounted vessel faucet with enough height, or a wall-mounted spout. Choosing the faucet before the counter is cut lets the drain hole and the faucet position be planned together.

Care
Calacatta Viola is a calcite marble, so it is a porous stone: acidic liquids can etch the polished surface and strong pigments can stain it if they sit too long. Sealing protects the stone, and how often it is resealed depends on how much the sink is used.
