Marble · Coffee table
Calacatta Viola plain rectangular coffee table
This coffee table is handcrafted from Calacatta Viola marble quarried in Turkey and finished with a polish. Both the tabletop and the supporting legs are carved from marble blocks, with no veneer. Gray and purple veining moves across the surface, and because the stone is natural, the coloring and pattern differ on every table, with moderate variation between pieces. It measures 20 inches wide, 36 inches long and 12 inches high.
Design
A plain form for a strong stone
The design is plain on purpose. A flat rectangular top and simple legs let the gray and purple veining create movement and depth, so the stone does the work instead of carved detail. The high-gloss polish catches light and brings out the complex patterns in the marble. Inside, the table is hollow while keeping its structural strength, which makes it easier to place than a solid block of the same size; the top and legs are still produced from solid marble blocks. The handwork shows in how the marble flows across the top and how the veins align at the edges.

A hollow core that keeps the table easier to place without losing strength.
Where to use it
Low and compact for a seating area
At 20 by 36 inches and 12 inches high, the rectangle anchors a seating area without overwhelming the room. It suits a smaller living room, a reading nook in front of a loveseat or a sitting area in a bedroom. Coffee cups, board games and a few books all find a place on the top. The plain outline fits modern, transitional and classic interiors, and the colored veining gives a neutral room a focal point. One tray and a vase are enough styling on a top this size.
Size
20" W × 36" L × 12" H.
Finish
Polished Calacatta Viola, with moderate variation.
Delivery and setup
Arrives assembled
The table ships in a strong wooden crate and arrives fully assembled, ready to place. Marble is heavy even in a hollow design, so two people should lift it from the crate and set it down. It needs a level floor so the legs bear evenly. Felt pads under the legs protect wood floors and tile.

Made to order
Made to order
This table is made to order on two schedules: the 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, and the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice for the same size. If 20 by 36 inches does not suit the room, it can also be made in a custom size or finish. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements and the room it is for.
Care
Calacatta Viola is a porous calcite marble with a polished surface. Acids such as vinegar and lemon juice can etch it, and harsh cleaners can dull the finish. The polished surface resists staining better when it is sealed, and how often it is resealed depends on use. Over the years it develops a patina, and because the top is solid marble, wear can be professionally restored.
