Calacatta Viola with a built-in backsplash
This rectangular sink is carved from Calacatta Viola marble quarried in Turkey, and it brings a long tradition of stone working into a clean, modern wall-mount form. Calacatta marble is prized for bold veining on a bright background, and this variety shows it clearly: a white stone crossed by strong, dramatic veins in gray tones. The veining is natural, so each sink has its own pattern and no two are the same. It measures 21 inches wide, 34 inches long and 10 inches high, and the back rises into an integrated 8 inch backsplash carved from the same stone.

Design
Bold veins, polished inside and out
Calacatta veins are thicker and more dramatic than those of most marbles, and they create a strong contrast against the white base. On a sink this size, the stone has room to show long sweeps of veining across the front, the basin and the backsplash. The finish is polished on both the interior and the exterior surfaces, so the marble catches the light and reads with an almost reflective depth. The edges are curved and the surfaces are smooth, which leaves no tight crevices to trap dirt. Moderate color variation is normal for this stone. The organic shifts in color and veining are not flaws, they are the mark of real marble, and no two pieces share the same grain or pattern.

Where to use it
Off the floor, against the wall
Hung on the wall, the sink keeps the floor below clear and open, which makes a bathroom feel larger and leaves room for a shelf, a basket or nothing at all. The backsplash is not only decorative. It protects the wall from splashes and removes the awkward gap between sink and wall where water usually collects. A 1 inch bracket space underneath leaves room for the mounting hardware. The sink is also listed for countertop installation, so it can sit on a vanity top where a wall mount is not practical. At 34 inches long it suits a primary bath or a wider powder room wall, and the 10 inch height gives a deep, generous basin. A standard 1.5 inch drain fitting connects it to the plumbing.

Installation
Plan the wall before it arrives
Solid marble is heavy, and a sink of this length carries a lot of stone. For a wall mount, the wall needs solid blocking between the studs at the mounting height so the brackets have something strong to fix into. That blocking is easiest to add while the wall is open, before tile or drywall goes up. Because the backsplash sits tight against the wall, the faucet is usually mounted on the wall above it, so the supply lines and the spout height should be planned before the wall is closed. If the sink will sit on a countertop instead, the top must be flat, level and strong enough for the weight, with the drain hole cut to match. A professional installer is recommended in both cases, for the weight and for clean alignment of drain and supply lines.

Care
Calacatta Viola is a calcite marble, a porous stone that acids such as vinegar, lemon juice or wine can etch and that strong pigments can stain if they soak in. Sealing helps keep liquids out, and how often it is resealed depends on how much the sink is used.
