Calacatta Viola with a built-in backsplash
This wall-mount sink is carved from Calacatta Viola marble quarried in Turkey. The stone has a creamy white ground with gray and deep purple to burgundy veining, and each piece is carved individually, so no two are alike. The basin measures 30 inches long, 16 inches wide and 8 inches high, and a 10 inch backsplash rises from the back edge to protect the wall behind it.
Design
Purple veins and a raised back
Calacatta Viola is known for its colour: violet and burgundy veins running through white and gray. The surfaces are polished inside and out, which deepens those colours and leaves smooth faces with no hidden corners or crevices. The integrated backsplash is carved as part of the sink, giving the piece an architectural outline and keeping water off the wall. Moderate colour variation is normal, and the balance of white, gray and purple will differ from sink to sink.

Where to use it
A floating sink with room to work
At 30 by 16 inches, the sink gives generous surface area without crowding a smaller bathroom or powder room. Wall-mounted, it floats above an open floor. It can also sit on a vanity as an above-vanity sink when storage is needed below. A 1 inch bracket space beneath the sink allows secure wall mounting. Three pre-drilled faucet holes accommodate widespread or single-handle faucets, and the standard 1.77 inch drain opening connects to conventional plumbing.

Installation
Plan the wall before it arrives
Solid marble is heavy, so the wall needs blocking between the studs at the mounting height before the sink is hung. The sink then rests on brackets in the bracket space underneath. On a vanity, the top must be flat, level and strong, and the sink is set in silicone. Because the faucet holes are pre-drilled, choose the faucet type first and run the supply lines to match. A professional installer is recommended.

This sink is made to order on two production schedules, both in the 30 by 16 inch size with a polished finish. The 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. It can also be made in a custom size or finish. Care
Calacatta Viola is a porous calcite marble, so acids such as lemon juice, vinegar and wine can etch it even when sealed. Periodic resealing protects it, and how often depends on use, typically every six to twelve months.
