Fluted Calacatta Viola with a backsplash
This wall-mounted vanity sink is carved from solid Calacatta Viola marble quarried in Turkey. It measures 37 inches long, 21 inches wide and 12 inches high, with a fluted front and a 10 inch backsplash carved as part of the piece. The white stone carries gray veining with purple tones, and because each sink is cut from its own block, no two are identical.

Design
A fluted front, honed finish
The fluted exterior gives the front of the sink vertical ribs that add depth and catch light, while the rectangular basin inside is softly curved for comfortable use. The finish is honed on the inside and outside: smooth and matte, without reflections, and it hides water spots better than a glossy surface. The integrated 10 inch backsplash, about 3/4 inch thick, protects the wall behind the faucet and ties the sink visually to the wall. Curved edges and smooth construction leave few crevices where debris collects. Moderate variation in veining between sinks is normal.

Where to use it
A wide vanity on the wall
Wall-mounted, the sink frees floor space, which suits primary baths, powder rooms and smaller bathrooms that need to feel open. It can also be set above a vanity. It works in contemporary and traditional rooms, especially with brass or gold fittings. The 1.77 inch drain hole takes standard plumbing.

Installation
Reinforce the wall first
This is a large piece of solid marble, so the wall needs blocking between the studs at the mounting height before it is hung. The 1 inch bracket space underneath leaves room for the wall brackets. With the backsplash, a wall-mounted faucet is the natural choice, and its position should be fixed early so the supply lines match. On a vanity, the top must be flat, level and strong, with the sink set in silicone. A professional installer is recommended.

Care
Calacatta Viola is a calcite marble, so it is a porous stone and acids can etch the honed surface. Periodic resealing protects it, and how often depends on use.
