A Carrara White marble flower
This vessel sink is carved from a solid block of Carrara White marble quarried in Turkey, then shaped into a round flower with soft, petal-like edges. It is not molded or assembled from parts: the bowl, the petals and the base are one piece of stone. The white marble carries soft gray-blue veining, and because every block is different, the tone, the veining and the movement across the surface change from one sink to the next. At 17 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, it suits a powder room, a primary bath or any vanity where the sink is meant to be the focal point rather than an afterthought.
Design
Petal edges in polished marble
The outline breaks away from the usual rectangle or oval. Curved petals run around the rim, so there are no sharp angles, and the form reads as organic rather than geometric. As light moves across the room during the day, the petal edges throw thin shadow lines that give the bowl depth without any added decoration. The shape sits comfortably in modern, contemporary, traditional and transitional bathrooms. The finish is polished inside and out. A polished surface reflects light, which makes the bowl look brighter and a little larger than its size, and it brings the gray-blue veining forward against the white. The stone walls are 2 to 3 cm thick, which gives the petals a crisp edge while keeping the bowl solid. Moderate colour variation between pieces is normal for this marble, and the natural differences in tone and veining are part of the stone, not a flaw.

Where to use it
Where the flower bowl fits
The bowl sits on top of the counter, so it raises the working height of the vanity by its own 6 inches. On a standard height vanity that often makes washing more comfortable, and it gives the counter a sculptural object to look at. The white stone pairs with wood, painted cabinets, dark counters and warm brass or black fixtures. In a powder room it becomes the piece guests notice first; in a primary bath, two bowls side by side repeat the petal shape across a double vanity. At 17 inches across, the bowl leaves usable counter space around it on most vanities. The 4 cm drain hole takes standard drain fittings, so a plumber connects it as they would any vessel sink.

Installation
Set it on a flat counter
Solid marble is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry the bowl. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the sink is set in a bead of silicone around the base. Because the bowl stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet has to reach over the petal rim: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout both work. It is worth choosing the faucet before the counter is cut, so the faucet hole and the drain hole are placed in the right relation to each other. A professional plumber can then connect the drain and supply lines in the usual way.

Care
Carrara White is a calcite marble, and even with a polished face it is a porous stone: acids such as citrus, wine or some cleaners can etch dull spots into the surface, and strong pigments can stain it if left to sit. The sink arrives professionally sealed, and how often it is resealed depends on how much the bathroom is used.
