Carrara White with a fluted front
This wall-mount sink is carved from a single block of solid Carrara White marble, quarried in Turkey and shaped by hand. The stone has a soft white base with delicate gray veining that catches the light, and each sink is unique, so no two are identical. It measures 28 inches long, 16 inches wide and 10 inches high, a substantial piece that makes a clear statement on the wall. The front is carved with vertical flutes, and the whole sink has a honed finish.
Design

The fluted front gives the sink textural depth that a flat basin does not have. The linear grooves are carved into the stone itself, and they catch natural light differently through the day, so the face of the sink changes as the light moves. The honed finish is smooth and matte, which shows the grain of the marble and keeps the white from looking clinical. The edges are curved, which reduces the places where dirt can collect. Because the stone is natural, the veining runs differently across each sink, and moderate color variation between pieces is normal. The 10 inch height gives the fluting room to read clearly from across the bathroom.

A floating sink with presence
Mounted directly to the wall, the sink floats above the floor and leaves the area underneath open, which keeps a bathroom feeling lighter. The fluting and the white marble work in a modern bathroom and in a traditional or transitional one, and the sink is just as suited to a powder room renovation as to a primary bath. At 28 by 16 inches the basin is generous, and the 10 inch height gives it a solid, architectural profile on the wall. The 4 cm drain hole takes standard drain fittings without special adapters.

Installation
Prepare the wall first
Solid marble is heavy, and this is a large sink, so the wall needs proper backing. Blocking between the studs at the mounting height is simplest to add while the wall is open, and the sink is hung on brackets fixed into that blocking. A wall-mounted faucet suits this sink, and its position should be decided early so the supply lines can be run to the right height and centered on the basin. A professional installer is recommended, both for the weight and so the drain and supply lines line up cleanly.

Care
Carrara White is a calcite marble, and like all marble it is porous, so acidic products such as vinegar or lemon can etch the honed surface. Sealing helps keep water and stains out of the stone, and how often it is resealed depends on use, typically about once a year.
