Denizli travertine, chiseled by hand
This round vessel sink is carved from a single block of Denizli Beige travertine, from the Denizli region of Turkey, an area whose travertine has been used in architecture since ancient times. The interior is honed smooth; the exterior is chiseled by hand, so the outside of the bowl carries the marks of the tools that shaped it. That pairing of a smooth basin and a rough outer wall gives the sink a rustic, old-world character. At 16 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, it is sized for standard vanities: substantial enough to anchor the counter without taking all of it.
Design
Smooth inside, rough outside
The two finishes tell two different stories. Inside, the honed surface is smooth and matte, comfortable under the hands and easy to keep clean, with curved edges and no corners for dirt to gather in. Outside, the walls are hand-chiseled, and when light crosses them the texture shows every cut, the work of a stone carver rather than a mold. Travertine forms from mineral-rich hydrothermal waters, and Denizli stone is known for its warm beige tone and distinctive character. The walls of the bowl are 2 to 3 cm thick. Each sink carries its own color variation and finish character, because it is carved from natural stone and not stamped from a template, and moderate variation between pieces is normal.

Where to use it
A warm bowl for many styles
The warm beige tone works across a wide range of bathrooms. In a modern minimalist room it adds organic texture; in a rustic farmhouse bath it feels at home next to wood and iron; in a traditional or transitional room it sits easily beside painted cabinetry; and in an industrial loft it softens concrete and metal. Natural stone tones like this one have stayed in use for centuries. The bowl suits a powder room vanity or a primary bath counter, and two can be set side by side on a double vanity. The 4 cm drain opening is standard and works with typical vessel drains, with no custom modifications needed.

As an above-counter sink, the bowl sits on the countertop rather than in it. The counter must be flat, level and strong enough for solid stone, and a drain hole is cut to line up with the 4 cm drain. The bowl is then set in silicone. Above-counter vessel sinks need a faucet that clears the rim: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted faucet. The drain size leaves the choice open, whether sleek contemporary, classic brass or a sculptural spout. Choose the faucet before cutting the counter so the holes and supply lines land in the right place.

Care
Travertine is a porous calcite stone, so acids can etch both the honed interior and the chiseled exterior. Periodic resealing keeps stains on the surface rather than letting them penetrate the stone, and how often it is needed depends on use, typically every 1 to 2 years.
