Golden Sienna travertine, round
This round vessel sink is sculpted by hand from Golden Sienna travertine quarried in Turkey. The stone runs in warm gold, honey and soft orange tones, with natural veining that moves around the bowl, and each piece is cut from a different part of the block, so no two sinks are identical. It measures 16 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, with walls 2 to 3 cm thick.
Design
Filled, then polished
Travertine forms with small natural holes in it. On this sink those holes are filled and the stone is then polished, inside and out, which leaves a smooth, continuous surface that catches light while keeping the warm color and veining of the stone. The round bowl shape gives a deep, generous basin at 6 inches high. Moderate variation in color and veining from one sink to the next is normal, and the exact tone of each piece will differ.

Where to use it
For a bathroom or a kitchen
In a bathroom, a natural stone vessel often becomes the centerpiece of the vanity, and the warm gold of this travertine sits well with wood, cream walls and brass fixtures. The 16 inch diameter is wide enough for daily use while leaving counter space on either side. The sink is also suited to kitchen use, for example on a bar or prep counter. The 4 cm drain hole accepts standard vessel sink fittings.

Installation
A level top and a tall faucet
This is an above-counter sink. The counter must be flat and level, with one hole drilled for the drain to line up with the opening in the bowl, and the sink is set in place with silicone. Because the bowl stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet needs to be tall or mounted on the wall, with a spout that reaches over the rim.

Care
Travertine is a porous calcite stone, so acids can etch the polished surface and strong pigments can stain it. The sink is sealed after installation, and how often it is resealed depends on use and on the type of sealer.
