Karina, an oval travertine vessel
The Karina is an oval vessel sink carved individually from walnut travertine quarried in Turkey. Its light beige palette has subtle warm undertones, mineral flecks and organic surface character, and because each sink is carved on its own, no two are identical. It measures 16 inches wide, 20.5 inches long and 6 inches high, with a 4 cm drain hole, and it sits on top of the counter.
Design
Honed and filled, inside and out
The honed and filled finish covers both the interior and the exterior. Honing gives a refined matte surface rather than a gloss, and filling closes the natural pits of the travertine for a smoother, more even face. The edges are naturally curved, which removes the sharp corners where soap scum would otherwise collect and makes daily cleaning simpler. The light beige tone is a versatile base that sits well in modern, contemporary, traditional and transitional bathrooms. The small color variations and surface texture of each sink are signs of real stone, and moderate variation between pieces is normal.
Honed and filled
A matte finish inside and out, with the natural pits of the travertine filled.
Curved edges
No sharp corners for soap scum to collect in.
Where to use it
An oval bowl for the vanity
At 16 by 20.5 inches and 6 inches high, the oval gives generous basin space for washing without much splashing, while staying compact enough for a powder room or a single vanity in a primary bath. It can go onto an existing vanity or into a new build, since it needs only a drain hole in the counter. The 4 cm drain hole connects to standard plumbing.

Installation
Set it on a level counter
Solid travertine is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in silicone. Because it stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet must reach over the rim: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Choose the faucet before the counter is drilled.

Care
Travertine is a porous calcite stone, so acids such as vinegar can etch the honed surface, and periodic resealing maintains its resistance to water. How often depends on how much the sink is used.
