GMSTONE Beige Travertine Handcrafted Bathroom Vessel Sink 16 Inch, installed in a room

Travertine · Above-Counter sink

Beige travertine with two finishes

This round vessel sink is carved by hand from light beige travertine quarried in Turkey. It measures 16 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, enough capacity for daily washing without overwhelming a standard vanity. Each sink is carved individually, so no two are identical: the warm, neutral tones, the natural texture of the travertine and its colour variation are different in every bowl. What sets this sink apart is its two finishes, one for the inside of the basin and one for the outside wall.

Design

Honed inside, sandblasted outside

The interior is honed: smooth to the touch, matte in appearance, and easy to keep clean for daily use. The exterior is sandblasted, which gives the outside wall a soft, even texture with a slightly granular feel. The contrast between the two surfaces is deliberate. It gives the bowl visual depth, so the outside reads as raw stone and the inside as a finished basin. The walls are carved 2 to 3 cm thick, and the rim and base have curved edges that simplify cleaning and leave few places for dirt to collect. Moderate color variation is normal for travertine, and the light beige can range from cream to a warmer sand from one sink to the next.

Where to use it

A neutral bowl that fits in

The warm, light beige palette fits into existing bathrooms without asking for other changes, whether the room is modern, transitional, rustic or minimalist. It sits well on wood, painted cabinetry or a stone counter, and with nickel, brass or black fittings. The 16 inch bowl suits a powder room vanity and is roomy enough for a primary bath, and the stone is suitable for kitchen use as well, on a bar or a small prep counter. The 4 cm drain opening takes standard plumbing fittings, which keeps installation simple.

Installation

Set it on a flat counter

This sink installs above the counter. Solid stone is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in silicone. With the rim 6 inches above the counter, the faucet must reach over it: a tall vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Choose the faucet before the counter is cut.

Made to order

This sink is made to order on two schedules: the 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. If a 16 inch round does not suit the layout, the bowl can be made in custom dimensions, shapes or surface finishes. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the counter.

Care

Travertine is a porous calcite stone, so acids such as vinegar or lemon juice can etch it and weaken the seal, and hard water left to dry can leave mineral marks. How often it is resealed depends on use, typically once or twice a year.
