An oval bowl in light beige travertine
This oval vessel sink is carved by hand from light beige travertine quarried in Turkey. It sits entirely on top of the vanity counter, so the full shape of the carved stone stays in view, and it gives the counter a sculptural centerpiece without the look of a standard fitting. Every sink is carved individually from its own block, which means the veining, the small color shifts and the texture of the stone are different in each piece. It measures 16 inches wide, 21.5 inches long and 6 inches high, with a 4 cm drain hole. The oval outline is softer than a rectangle and longer than a round bowl, which gives a little more room to wash while keeping the sink easy to fit on a vanity.
Design
Honed and filled, with curved edges
The finish is honed and filled. Honing gives the interior a smooth, refined surface that is matte rather than high gloss, so it feels calm to the touch and is less slippery when wet. Filling closes the natural pits that travertine forms, which leaves fewer places for water and soap to settle, and a honed face shows fingerprints and minor water spots less than a glossy one. The rounded, organic edges continue around the whole rim. Water runs toward the center of the bowl rather than collecting in corners, and with no sharp internal angles there is nowhere for soap to get trapped, which makes the sink easier to keep clean. Color variation and natural veining are part of real travertine, not flaws in it, and moderate variation between sinks is normal for this stone.

Sized for real vanities
At 16 by 21.5 inches, the bowl has generous proportions without overwhelming a smaller bathroom, and the 6 inch height gives a practical basin depth that balances presence with everyday use. The light beige tone suits powder rooms and primary baths alike, against wood, plaster or painted vanities. Because a vessel sink sits on the counter, it needs only a single hole for the drain rather than a full cutout, which keeps installation simple and leaves more of the cabinet below free for storage. The raised bowl also brings the basin a few inches closer to the user, which many people find comfortable. The 4 cm drain hole takes standard drain connections, and if the vanity changes later, a vessel sink is easier to swap than one cut into the counter.

Installation
One hole in a level counter
Solid travertine is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry it. One hole is cut through the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in silicone so it sits firmly. Because the sink stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet must reach over the rim: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Settle on the faucet before the counter is drilled, so its hole or its supply lines can be placed to suit the oval shape and the position of the drain.

Care
Travertine is a porous calcite stone with a warm, open texture, so acids can etch it and sealing protects it against water absorption. How often it is resealed depends on how much the sink is used.
