A puzzle-shaped travertine vessel
This vessel sink is carved from a single piece of beige travertine quarried in Turkey, in an unusual puzzle shape that sets it apart from the usual round bowl or rectangular basin. The warm beige tones and subtle natural variation of the stone give it a quiet, sculptural presence on the vanity, and the surface develops character and depth as the years pass. Each sink is shaped by hand, so no two are identical. It measures 27.5 inches long, 16 inches wide and 6 inches high.
Design
An unconventional outline, honed
The puzzle silhouette is the defining feature: interlocking curves in place of straight sides, carved through the full depth of the stone. The interior and exterior surfaces are curved throughout, so there are no sharp corners to trap grime, and cleaning follows the line of the bowl. The finish is honed and filled. Honing leaves a smooth, silky matte surface, and filling closes the natural pits of the travertine, so the face of the stone stays even. The curved edges are comfortable to the hand. The bowl has no overflow, which keeps the walls clean and uninterrupted. Natural variation in tone is part of the material, and each sink shows its own pattern of beige and cream.

Where to use it
Long enough to be the focal point
At 27.5 by 16 inches, the sink is an architectural focal point on the vanity while keeping practical proportions for a standard above-counter installation. It suits a primary bath or a larger powder room, especially a scheme built around warm natural materials. A vessel sink also frees the storage space under the counter that a drop-in sink would take, and this one does so without giving up stability or daily usability. The 4 cm drain opening takes standard plumbing without modification.

Installation
Plan the vanity and the faucet
Solid stone is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong. One hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the sink is set in silicone; with no overflow, it takes a vessel drain without an overflow port. The rim stands 6 inches above the counter, so the faucet must reach over it: a tall vessel faucet on the deck or a wall-mounted spout. Vanity height and faucet placement are the details most often overlooked with a vessel sink. A correctly placed spout reduces splashing, and the overall height of vanity plus sink should be checked before the counter is cut.

Care
Travertine is a porous calcite stone, and acids such as vinegar, lemon juice and chemical descalers can etch it. The sink arrives sealed, and how often it is resealed depends on use, typically every 6 to 12 months.
