This vessel sink is carved by hand from a single block of light beige travertine quarried in Turkey. It sits on top of the vanity, so the basin, the counter and the faucet each read as separate pieces, a clear separation that suits a modern bathroom. The sink measures 25.6 inches wide, 17.7 inches long and 4.7 inches high, a low, broad profile that fits a standard vanity. Its shape is a special design rather than a plain bowl, and the travertine's warm, earthy tones and soft natural variation give every piece its own character.
Design
A low, honed travertine basin
The finish is honed: a smooth, matte surface that feels refined to the touch and shows fewer water spots than a glossy finish would. Honing also lets the travertine show its natural texture and its warm beige color without shine. The sink's modern special-design form keeps the lines simple, and the edges are curved, so there are fewer dirt traps than on a vessel with intricate detailing. At 4.7 inches high, the basin is low and wide, which gives it a calm, horizontal presence on the counter. Travertine is a natural stone, so each sink varies slightly in color, veining and surface character; moderate variation between pieces is normal and is a mark of real stone rather than a defect. Over time the honed surface develops a soft patina with use.

Installation
Check the faucet before the counter
As a vessel sink, it rests on top of the counter. Solid stone is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry it. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the drain of the sink, and the basin is set in a bead of silicone. Vessel sinks sit above the counter, so a standard deck faucet will usually be too short: It needs a vessel faucet tall enough to clear the rim or a wall-mounted faucet with enough reach. Check the faucet height and spout reach before installation, and choose the faucet before the counter is cut so the holes and supply lines line up.

Care
Travertine is a porous, calcium-based stone with a honed surface, so acids such as vinegar or lemon can etch it permanently. Sealing protects it against moisture and stains, and how often it is resealed depends on use, typically about once a year.
