Marble · Above-Countertop sink

White marble, carved into a shallow round bowl

This vessel sink is carved by hand from a single piece of white marble quarried in Turkey. It is a round bowl, 15.5 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches high, made to sit on top of a bathroom counter rather than inside it. The marble carries soft natural veining and gentle shifts in tone, so the pattern moves a little differently across every piece. No two sinks are cut from the same part of the block, which means the one that arrives will be close to the product images but never identical to them. The whole bowl is solid stone, with no liner, coating or glaze between the water and the marble. A sink like this is usually chosen as the one fixture in the room that people notice first: a plain vanity, a simple mirror and a well-placed faucet are enough around it. The stone does the work, and the polished surface keeps it bright from morning to night.

Design

Polished inside and out

The finish is polished on both the inside of the basin and the outside wall of the bowl. Polishing brings the white marble to a glossy face that reflects light from a window or a vanity lamp and gives the veining more depth than a matte surface would. The walls are carved 2 to 3 cm thick, enough to give the bowl a solid, substantial rim without making it look heavy on the counter. Every edge is smooth and curved, from the rounded lip to the base where the bowl meets the counter, so there are no sharp corners to catch a hand or a towel. At 4.5 inches tall, this is a low, shallow profile among vessel sinks. It reads as a wide, open dish rather than a deep bucket, which keeps sight lines clear in front of the mirror and makes the sink feel lighter on a narrow vanity. Moderate color variation between sinks is normal for this stone: one bowl may show more gray movement, another a cleaner white field. Those differences come from the geology of the marble, not from the workshop, and they are part of what each buyer gets.

Where to use it

A bowl for the bathroom vanity

The white marble fits modern minimalist, transitional and traditional bathrooms. It sits naturally against warm wood, painted cabinets or a stone counter, and it suits chrome, brass or matte black faucets equally well. Because the bowl is 15.5 inches across, it makes a clear statement without crowding a standard vanity, and it leaves counter space on either side for soap, a tray or a small plant. In a powder room the sink can be the main feature of the room. In a primary bath, two bowls side by side on a long counter give each person a basin of their own. The shallow 4.5 inch height also keeps the rim at a comfortable reach once the bowl is on the counter, which matters for children and shorter users. The 4 cm drain hole takes standard bathroom drain fittings, so no special plumbing parts are needed.

Installation

Set it on a flat, strong counter

This is an above-counter sink, so installation starts with the counter itself. Solid marble is heavy, and the vanity and countertop need to be flat, level and strong enough to carry the stone over many years of daily use. A hole is cut through the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, the drain assembly is fitted, and the bowl is set in a bead of silicone. Because the rim stands above the counter, the faucet has to reach over it: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout both work. A low bowl like this one gives a little more freedom in faucet height than a deep vessel, but the spout should still reach toward the center of the basin to limit splashing. Choose the faucet before the counter is cut, so the faucet hole and the drain hole are placed in the right relationship. A professional installer is recommended, both for the weight of the stone and to make sure the drain and supply lines line up cleanly.

Why we chose it

Other sizes

This bowl is carved in Turkey and held in stock in the size listed here, so it ships within 3 to 5 business days. When a project calls for something different, sinks can be made to order: the same round bowl can be carved wider, deeper or with another finish, and the workshop confirms the lead time before production starts. Custom pieces follow the same process as this one, cut from a single piece of stone and finished by hand. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the vanity and the faucet you plan to use.

Care

White marble is a porous calcite stone, so acidic liquids such as citrus juice or vinegar can etch the polished surface, and strong pigments can stain it if they sit. This sink is sealed before it ships, which slows absorption, and how often it is resealed depends on how much the bathroom is used.
