Noce Brown Turkish Handcrafted Travertine Drop-In Bathroom Sink
Thank you, your request is in.
Our team will review the details and get back to you within one business day.

Travertine · Above-Counter sink
This round sink is carved by hand from Noce brown travertine quarried in Turkey. Each piece is cut and shaped individually, so the warm brown tones and natural color variations are never repeated from one sink to the next. It comes in two sizes, 16 inches or 12 inches in diameter, both 6 inches high, and it can sit on top of the counter or drop into a cutout so the rim rests on the surface. The finish is honed and filled, a practical treatment that keeps the character of travertine while making the surface easier to live with every day.

Design
Travertine forms with small natural pits and voids. On this sink they are filled and the surface is honed, which leaves a smooth, low luster face instead of open holes where debris can settle. Without the filling, travertine needs regular brushing to keep its pits clean. With it, the surface stays even and simple to keep. Honing also matters when the stone is wet: a matte face is less slippery than a glossy one, and it reads as a deliberate, understated choice. The rim is curved with smooth edges, leaving no crevices where water can sit. The color is a deep, earthy brown that shifts in tone across the bowl, and moderate variation between sinks is normal for this stone.
The natural voids of the travertine are filled and the face is honed to a smooth, low luster finish.
Rounded edges with no sharp corners or crevices for water to collect in.

Where to use it
Noce brown brings warmth to a transitional bathroom, and the matte surface suits rustic, Mediterranean, farmhouse and minimalist rooms as well as a more contemporary upscale bath. It sits naturally beside wood vanities, plaster walls and aged brass. The 16 inch bowl gives a generous basin for a primary bathroom, while the 12 inch size fits a narrow powder room vanity or a guest bath where counter space is tight. Both stand 6 inches high and share the same honed and filled finish. The 4 cm drain hole accommodates standard plumbing without modification.

Installation
The sink can be installed two ways. Set on top of the counter, it needs a flat, level and strong surface with a drain hole cut to line up with the 4 cm drain, and it is set in silicone. Dropped in, the counter is cut to the size of the bowl so the stone sits in the opening and the rim rests on the surface, which lowers the height of the rim. In both cases the cutout or drain hole should be measured from the sink itself, because hand carved stone varies slightly. Solid travertine is heavy, so the vanity must be strong enough to carry it. Plan the faucet with the installation: a sink on the counter needs a tall vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout that reaches over the rim.

Why we chose it

Made to order
Both sizes are available on a 3 to 5 business day schedule. The 16 inch sink is also offered on an 8 to 14 week schedule, which is the lower-priced choice for that size, while the 3 to 5 business day option ships sooner. Beyond the two standard sizes, custom sizes, shapes and finishes are made to order. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the counter.
Travertine is a porous calcite stone and reacts with acids, so lemon juice, vinegar or wine can etch the honed surface. The filled and honed finish keeps upkeep straightforward, and how often the stone is resealed depends on how much the sink is used.
