Travertine · Above-Counter sink
This vessel sink is hand-carved from Noce travertine quarried in Turkey, shaped into a long, boat-like ellipse that recalls the hull of a kayak. Each piece is sculpted individually by stone carvers, so no two sinks are identical in their tone, veining or the small marks of the hand. The shape is more than decoration. The long, curved interior guides water down toward the drain, and the tapered ends keep rinsing water inside the bowl rather than sending it over the rim onto the counter. It measures 23 inches long, 16 inches wide and 6 inches high, with stone walls 2 to 3 cm thick.

Design
Noce is the warm, brown member of the travertine family, with rich beige and brown tones layered through the stone. The surface is honed and filled. Honing leaves the stone smooth and matte rather than shiny, which keeps the look earthy and understated without the glare of a high polish. Filling closes the natural pits of the travertine, so the surface is more even and gives dirt fewer places to settle than unfilled stone. Inside, the curved geometry has no corners, and the ends rise gently toward the rim. Because each sink is carved by hand, expect organic variation: subtle color shifts, natural veining and finish character that differ from piece to piece. Moderate color variation is normal for this stone, and over time the warm tones gain depth rather than fading.

Where to use it
Vessel sinks are popular for sculptural, design-led bathrooms, and this kayak form works well in a primary ensuite, a powder room or a spa-style bath where the sink is the piece people notice. Its 16 by 23 inch footprint is generous enough for daily washing and grooming without feeling cramped. Many vessel sink regrets come from three things: a vanity that ends up too tall, a faucet with the wrong reach that splashes, and a material that needs more care than expected. At 6 inches high, this bowl pairs naturally with a lower-profile vanity, which keeps the rim at a comfortable height. The sink has no overflow, and the 4 cm drain hole takes standard vessel drain fittings.

Installation
Above-counter installation means no undermount fabrication: the sink sits on top of the vanity. Solid travertine is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong. A hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in silicone. Because the rim stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet must reach over it, so choose a tall vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout with the right reach before the counter is cut. Check the total height of vanity plus bowl at this stage too, since that is what sets a comfortable working height.
Why we chose it

Made to order
This sink is made to order on two schedules: the 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. Both are the same honed and filled sink in the same size. Custom sizes and finishes are also available, so the bowl is not locked to stock dimensions if the vanity calls for something else. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the counter.
Travertine is softer than granite and is a porous calcite stone, so acidic cleaners such as vinegar or lemon can etch the honed surface. Sealing guards against staining from water and oils, and resealing is typically needed once or twice a year depending on use.
