Rosso Levanto, red marble with a tall backsplash
This wall-mount bathroom sink is carved from a single block of Rosso Levanto marble quarried in Turkey. The stone is a deep red, close to burgundy, broken by bold white veining, and since the veins run differently through every block, no two sinks share the same pattern or coloring. It measures 30 inches long, 16 inches wide and 12 inches high, including an integrated backsplash that rises behind the basin. The finish is polished, the shape is a clean modern rectangle, and the sink can hang on the wall or sit on top of a vanity.

Design
Deep red stone, white veins
Rosso Levanto is chosen for its color. Deep red marble is a bold choice in a bathroom, and the white veins that cross it keep the stone from feeling heavy. The surface is polished, which deepens the red and makes the white lines stand out sharply, and gives the basin a smooth, glossy face that sheds soap residue and water marks easily. The edges are smooth and curved, so water runs off rather than pooling on the rim. The basin has no overflow hole, which keeps the inside a clean, unbroken shape. At the back, the 11 inch backsplash is carved as part of the same stone, so there is no joint between basin and splash, and the wall behind stays protected. The veining is natural, and the amount of white, the depth of the red and the direction of the lines will vary between sinks; moderate variation between pieces is normal for this marble.

Where to use it
Hung on the wall or on a vanity
Hung on the wall, the sink frees the floor beneath it, which keeps a powder room open and gives a primary bathroom a light, contemporary look. It can also sit on top of a vanity if storage below is wanted. The backsplash comes with three faucet holes, so it accepts a single-hole faucet, a two-handle faucet or a three-hole widespread set, and brass, chrome and matte black fixtures all suit the red stone. A 1 inch bracket space beneath the sink leaves room for the wall-mount hardware. At 30 by 16 inches, the basin is roomy for daily use and still fits a compact bathroom. The 1.77 inch drain hole takes standard drain assemblies.

Installation
Plan the wall and the faucet
Solid marble is heavy, and with a tall backsplash this sink carries real weight. For a wall-mount installation, the wall needs blocking between the studs at the mounting height, which is easiest to add while the wall is open, and the sink hangs on brackets fixed into that blocking. Since the faucet mounts through the backsplash, the supply lines run up behind it: decide which faucet setup will be used before the wall is closed. If the sink is set on a vanity instead, the top must be flat, level and strong enough to carry the stone. A professional installer is recommended for the weight and so the drain and supply lines line up.

Care
Rosso Levanto is a calcite marble with a polished surface. Like all marble it is porous, and acids such as vinegar can etch the polish. Sealing keeps toothpaste, soap and cosmetics from staining the stone, and how often it is resealed depends on use.
