Travertine · Above-Counter sink
This 16 inch round vessel sink is carved by hand from solid travertine quarried in Turkey. No two pieces are identical: Each basin comes out of the stone with its own veining, its own depth of color and its own mineral character. The tone is a soft grey-beige, often called silver latte, that sits between warm and neutral. It works with plain tile, rich wood vanities, gray counters and transitional palettes, and it feels warmer than a cool white stone, which makes it an easy fixture to build a bathroom around.

Design
Travertine forms with natural pits and holes. On this sink they are filled, and the surface is then polished, so the bowl has a smooth, light-reflecting face with richer color than a matte stone. Filling leaves fewer places for dirt to settle, and the polish lets water run off the surface instead of sitting on it. The basin edges are curved with soft corners, avoiding the hard angles where soap and mineral deposits tend to build up, so the bowl is quick to clean. The color shifts across the stone: deeper silver in some areas, warmer latte tones in others, with subtle veining that does not repeat. Moderate variation between the product images and the sink that arrives is normal, and it is the clearest sign of real stone. Travertine is softer than marble or granite, yet it is still a durable stone, and it handles the swings between hot and cold water in a bathroom well.
Natural pits are filled and the surface polished to a smooth, reflective finish.
No hard corners where debris, soap scum or mineral deposits collect.

Where to use it
Vessel sinks sit on top of the countertop and show the stone from every angle, and this bowl is shaped to be seen. At 16 inches across and 5 inches high it suits a powder room vanity as well as a primary bath, and it needs no cutout work and no hidden edge seams. The low 5 inch height keeps the rim at a comfortable reach on a standard vanity. A bathroom is a good home for travertine: moderate humidity, steady water use and little contact with extreme heat. The neutral base pairs with warm wood cabinetry, natural fiber textures and soft-lined mirrors for a spa feel, or with cool grays and minimal hardware for a more contemporary look. The 4 cm (1.6 inch) drain hole accepts most standard pop-up drain assemblies.

Installation
The sink installs above the counter. Solid stone is heavy, so the vanity top needs to be flat, level and strong. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in a bead of silicone. With the rim standing 5 inches above the counter, the faucet has to clear it: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout both work. Decide on the faucet before the counter is cut, so the faucet hole and the drain can be laid out together.
Why we chose it

Made to order
This sink is made to order on two schedules: the 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. If the standard 16 inch bowl does not suit the vanity, it can also be made in a custom size or finish. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the counter.
Travertine is a porous calcite stone. Polishing and filling close the surface, but acids such as vinegar or lemon juice can still etch it and leave dull spots. Sealing helps keep moisture and stains out, and how often it is resealed depends on use.
