Round Travertine Stone Vessel Sink With Hand Chiseled Honed Edge
Thank you, your request is in.
Our team will review the details and get back to you within one business day.

Travertine · Over-Countertop sink
This round vessel sink is carved by hand from a single block of gray travertine quarried in Turkey. Stone workers shape the bowl with traditional tools, then leave the outside rough, so every sink carries its own pattern of tool marks along with the natural tone, veining and fossil impressions of the stone. It measures 16 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, with 2 to 3 cm walls of solid travertine. Even two bowls carved from the same block will differ, which is the point of a carved sink: It is a working fixture that also shows how it was made.

Design
The sink has two finishes. Inside, the bowl is honed: smooth, matte and soft to the touch, with gently rounded edges that let water run to the drain and make the basin simple to keep clean. Outside, the stone is hand chiseled, a split face finish that keeps deep tool marks and the raw texture of the travertine. The contrast is what gives the piece its depth. Light catches the ridges on the outer wall, while the honed interior stays quiet and even. The gray colour sits between warm and cool, with moderate variation from one sink to the next: some are lighter and silvery, others darker with more visible banding. The rim is thick and the curve of the bowl is cut, not cast, so the weight and shape of the stone are visible from every side. The basin has no overflow.
A smooth matte bowl with rounded edges that drains cleanly and is easy to keep clean.
A split face outer wall with visible tool marks, different on every sink.

Where to use it
The mix of rough and smooth stone suits rustic, Mediterranean and modern bathrooms alike, and it sits well on wood, concrete-look or plain stone counters. At 16 inches across, the bowl fits a powder room vanity and has enough room for daily use in a primary bath. It sits on top of the counter, so there is no undermount cutout to plan, and the 4 cm drain hole takes standard drain connections used in US bathrooms. A vessel sink works best when three things are decided together: a vanity built to carry the weight at the right height, a faucet scaled to the raised rim, and a plan for sealing the stone. Get those right and the sink fits a primary bath or a powder room where natural stone is a deliberate choice.

Installation
Solid stone is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry it. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in silicone. Because the sink adds 6 inches above the counter, the vanity height should be chosen with that in mind so the rim lands at a comfortable level. The faucet has to clear the rim and reach the middle of the bowl: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Choose the faucet before the counter is drilled, so the hole and the reach match.
Why we chose it

Made to order
This sink is made to order on two schedules. The 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice; both are the same 16 inch bowl with a honed interior and a hand chiseled exterior. The bowl can also be made in a custom size or finish when the vanity calls for it. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the counter.
Travertine is a porous calcite stone, and the open texture of the chiseled exterior is more absorbent than the honed bowl. Acids such as citrus or vinegar can etch it, and unsealed stone takes up stains from cosmetics and toothpaste, so the sink is sealed when it is installed. How often it is resealed after that depends on use.
