Light travertine fluted plinth side table
This plinth side table is made from Troia Light travertine quarried in Turkey. It is a square column, 12 by 12 inches, offered in three heights: 20, 27.5 and 35.5 inches. The honed surface gives the stone a soft, matte look, and the fluted sides borrow the form of a classical plinth for a piece that works as both a small table and a sculptural accent. Each one is hand-shaped using traditional stone-working methods.
Design
Fluting on a stone column
Vertical flutes run up the sides of the plinth and give the column a steady rhythm without decorative clutter. The stone itself carries the rest of the design. Troia Light travertine shows its natural holes, pits and veining, so every table is one of a kind, and its tones move from cream to sand to a light rust. The honed finish keeps that texture soft and calm to the eye, and light passing across the fluting brings out the shifts in colour. Because the form is so simple, the plinth suits clean minimal rooms as easily as eclectic ones. Real travertine develops character with time, and its subtle variations read especially well near a window or under accent lighting.

Three heights to group
The three heights are what make this piece flexible. The 20 inch plinth sits beside a sofa as a display surface or side table. The 27.5 inch height works as a sculptural bedside stand. At 35.5 inches the plinth becomes a pedestal for a plant, a sculpture or a lamp. Grouped in different heights, they can anchor the corner of a living room and draw the eye upward. The warm beige tones sit easily with creams, oatmeal and soft black, and the 12 inch top has room for a table lamp, candles or a stack of art books.

Delivery and setup
Shipped in a wooden crate
Each plinth ships in a reinforced wooden crate to protect the stone in transit. Solid travertine is heavy, especially in the tallest size, so two people should unpack and place it. Stand it on a level floor so the column sits square and does not rock, and use soft pads under the base to protect the floor finish. Lift it into place rather than sliding it.

Two schedules, custom sizes
Each plinth is made to order on two production schedules. The 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice in every height. If none of the three heights fits, a custom size or finish can be made. To start a custom order, contact us with the height and footprint needed.
Care
Travertine is a porous calcite stone, here with a honed surface. Acidic liquids such as vinegar or lemon can etch it, and moisture and strong pigments can stain it if left to sit. Periodic resealing helps it resist absorption, and how often depends on how the table is used.
