Light beige travertine, carved from one block
This rectangular sink is carved from a single block of beige travertine quarried in Turkey and finished there as well. Every piece is shaped individually, so each sink arrives with its own mineral pattern and character that cannot be repeated. The stone is a light, warm beige with a rustic feel, and the sink measures 18 inches wide, 21.4 inches long and 4 inches high. It is listed for kitchen use as well as for the bathroom, and it is made as much for daily work as for looks.
Design
A honed, filled surface
The finish is honed and filled. Honing leaves the travertine with a dull, almost matte sheen that gives it a rustic but refined look, and it does not show every fingerprint or water spot the way a high gloss would. Filling closes the natural voids of the stone, so the surface stays smooth and even instead of showing open pits, and there are fewer places for debris to settle. The rectangular form is simple and solid, with the basin carved straight out of the block, so there are no joints. With use, the stone develops a soft patina rather than looking worn. Travertine handles heat well and moves between hot and cold water without trouble, which matters in a busy kitchen. Moderate color variation between pieces is normal, and each sink carries the mark of its quarry and of the hands that shaped it.

Kitchen prep or a bath vanity
At 18 by 21.4 inches, the sink fits most counters without taking over the work surface. Its 4 inch height keeps it low and wide, a shallow basin for washing, rinsing and filling. It can be set above the counter as a vessel basin, where the carved sides stay on view, or installed as a drop-in for a lower, more integrated look. Both work with contemporary and transitional kitchens, and the rustic beige also suits a farmhouse or Mediterranean room. In a bathroom, the same sink becomes a broad, shallow basin on a vanity. The 4 cm drain hole accepts standard drain assemblies. Travertine has been valued for thousands of years, and it was the stone the Romans used for the Colosseum.

Installation
Size the counter to the stone
The sink is made for above-counter or drop-in installation. For either one, the counter must be flat, level and strong, because a solid travertine block is heavy. Set above the counter, the sink sits over a drain hole cut to line up with the 4 cm drain and is bedded in silicone, and the faucet must reach over the rim: a tall deck-mounted faucet or a wall-mounted spout. As a drop-in, the opening in the counter is cut to the dimensions of the sink itself, so measure the stone before the counter is fabricated. In a kitchen, plan the faucet reach early too, so the spout lands over the center of the basin.

Care
Travertine is a porous calcite stone. Filling reduces how much liquid the surface takes in, but acidic foods and cleaners can still etch the honed face. Resealing keeps it protected, and how often depends on use and on local water hardness.
