Beige travertine, a long rectangular vessel
This rectangular vessel sink is carved by hand from beige travertine quarried in Turkey. It measures 27.5 inches long, 16 inches wide and 4 inches high. The surface is honed and filled, a smooth matte finish with the stone's natural pits closed. It can sit on top of the counter or be installed as an undermount.
Design
Honed, filled and low
No two travertine sinks are identical. Each one carries the stone's own color variation, surface pattern and organic character, and moderate variation between pieces is normal. The honed and filled finish gives the sink a soft matte surface: honing takes the stone smooth without a gloss, and filling closes the natural pores of the travertine, leaving fewer places for moisture to settle. The matte face also hides water spots better than a high-gloss surface would. Smooth, curved edges remove the awkward corners where soap can collect, which keeps daily cleaning simple.

Where to use it
On the counter or under it
The sink works in two configurations. Above the counter, the complete form is visible, rim, interior and exterior, which makes it the centerpiece of the vanity. As an undermount, it tucks below the counter for a streamlined, contemporary look. At 27.5 inches long, it gives generous washing space without overwhelming a typical vanity, and the warm beige suits minimalist modern vanities as well as spa-like rooms with natural wood and stone. The sink is also listed for kitchen use. The 4 cm drain hole takes standard plumbing without modification, and the walls are 2 to 3 cm thick.

Installation
Two ways to set it
For an above-counter installation, the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry solid travertine. A drain hole is cut to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the sink is set in silicone. The rim stands 4 inches above the counter, so a deck faucet must clear it and reach the middle of a 27.5 inch basin, or a wall-mounted faucet can be used. For an undermount installation, the counter cutout is sized to the sink, the sink is supported from below, and the faucet is mounted on the counter behind it. A professional installer is recommended for an undermount.

Care
Travertine is a porous calcite stone. Acids such as citrus or vinegar react with it and can etch the honed surface, and the filled pores and a sealer help keep moisture and stains out. How often it is resealed depends on use.
