This round coffee table is made from Light Travertine quarried in Turkey, with a polished 36 inch top that sits 13 inches high on sphere-shaped legs in the same stone. Travertine is a naturally porous limestone with a warm, soft presence, and the beige and brown tones of this table give a living room a calm base. The vein-cut surface shows natural variation in color, subtle veining and mineral inclusions, so each table leaves the workshop in Turkey as a one-of-a-kind piece.

Design

Sphere legs in matching stone

The base is the signature of the design. Hand-sculpted spheres, about 12 inches across and cut from matching travertine, carry the round top, and their geometry contrasts with the organic texture of the stone. The polished finish gives the top an understated sheen while keeping the warmth of the beige. Because the spheres sit inward from the edge, the top appears to float above them, which makes a low, solid table look lighter than it is. Veining, color shifts and inclusions differ from one table to the next.

Light Travertine is a porous calcite stone with a polished top. Acids such as citrus or vinegar can etch the polish, and liquids left to sit can stain. Periodic sealing helps maintain the finish, and how often the table is resealed depends on use. As it ages, travertine can darken slightly and gather small character marks, which give it a lived-in quality.
