Tundra Gray, 48 inches of honed marble
This long rectangular sink is carved from solid Tundra Gray marble quarried in Turkey. At 48 inches long, 20 inches wide and 5 inches high, it gives a generous basin with room for two people at once, and it mounts on the wall so the floor below stays open. The gray has subtle, soft veining that sits between modern minimal and transitional design. Because it is natural stone, every piece is one of a kind, and the mineral variations and markings are proof of where it came from rather than flaws.
Design
A soft gray with a matte face
The surface is honed to a matte finish rather than glossy. Honed marble has a tactile, understated quality that feels warm in a bathroom, and it is less slippery when wet than a glossy face. It also hides the light etching that marble picks up with age, so the sink wears gracefully instead of looking damaged. The Tundra Gray palette is calm: soft gray tones with fine veining that keeps the long surface interesting without busy pattern. The basin has no overflow, which keeps the lines clean. Moderate color variation is normal for this stone, and the veining across a 48 inch piece will be different from any other. With use, the stone develops a patina, and fine marks become part of its character.

Where to use it
A floating sink for two
Hung on the wall, the sink floats above the floor and removes the visual weight of a floor-standing vanity. That openness counts most in a smaller primary bath, where floor space is scarce, and it leaves room for lighting under the sink and makes the floor easy to clean. The 48 inch length gives two users space side by side. The sink can also be installed above a counter where a wall mount is not practical. Its 1.77 inch drain takes standard drain fittings. The soft gray pairs with white walls, warm oak, matte black or satin nickel, and it suits both modern and transitional rooms.

Installation
Strong backing for a long stone
A 48 inch marble sink is heavy, and on the wall it needs solid support along its length. Blocking between the studs at the mounting height should go in while the wall is open, so the brackets can be fixed into it. A wall-mounted faucet is the usual pairing with a floating sink, so decide on the faucet positions, one or two along the length, and run the supply lines to match before the wall is finished. If the sink sits on a counter instead, the top must be flat, level and strong, with the drain hole cut to line up. A professional installer is recommended for both the weight and the plumbing.

Care
Tundra Gray is a porous calcite marble, so acids can etch it and liquids can soak in if the stone is unsealed. It is best sealed at installation, and how often it is resealed after that depends on use.
