Valencia travertine, a round brown bowl
The Valencia is a round vessel sink carved by hand from solid travertine quarried in Turkey. At 16 inches across and 6 inches tall, it makes a clear statement on the vanity without crowding it. Warm brown tones with subtle veining run through the stone, and because each bowl is carved individually, no two pieces are identical.
Design
Honed inside, sandblasted outside
The two finishes each do a job. The honed interior is smooth and matte, which helps hide water spots and light mineral marks in the basin and keeps daily cleaning simple. The sandblasted exterior is a textured, non-reflective surface that adds depth and a pleasant feel to the hand while keeping the stone's organic character. The bowl is curved all the way down, so water does not pool, and there is no overflow ring to break the clean inside line. The walls are 2 to 3 cm thick. Moderate color variation is normal for this travertine: some bowls lean warmer, some show more veining, and each has its own pattern.

A bowl that shows the stone
As a vessel sink, the Valencia sits on top of the counter, so the travertine is on view from every angle instead of hidden under the top. The raised bowl also keeps the counter around it clear. The warm brown suits wood vanities, plaster walls and earthy, spa-like bathrooms, and it is listed for kitchen use as well, where it works as a bar or prep sink. The 16 inch diameter and 6 inch height fit standard vanities without custom changes. The 4 cm drain hole takes standard drain fittings.

Installation
Set it on a flat counter
Solid travertine is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in silicone. With no overflow, it needs a drain without an overflow opening. Because it stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet must reach over the rim: a tall vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Choose the faucet before the counter is cut.

The Valencia is made to order on two schedules: the 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. Care
Travertine is a porous calcite stone, so acids and harsh chemicals can etch or dull it. Sealing helps keep water and stains out, and how often it is resealed depends on use and water hardness, typically once or twice a year.
