Calacatta Viola Round Marble Vessel Sink 16 Inch Polished Bathroom
Thank you, your request is in.
Our team will review the details and get back to you within one business day.

Marble · Over-Countertop sink
This round vessel sink is carved by hand from Calacatta Viola marble quarried in Turkey. The stone has a light base crossed by purple and gray veining, often in thick, sweeping bands that run across the bowl rather than fine, even lines. That veining is what sets Calacatta Viola apart: It is a less common marble, and the purple tones give each sink a color combination no other piece repeats. The bowl measures 16 inches in diameter and 6 inches high and sits on top of the vanity, so the full outside of the stone stays visible. Each sink is cut from a single block and shaped by hand, one at a time, with no molds and no production line.

Design
The sink is polished inside and out. A polished face sharpens the contrast between the light ground and the purple and gray veins, and it reflects the light around the vanity, which suits a bathroom planned around a calm, spa-like feel. Polished marble is also smooth to the touch and simple to keep clean, and it takes in liquids more slowly than a matte surface. The round shape keeps the lines simple so the veining carries the design. Because the bowl is carved from a single block, there are no joints in the stone, only one continuous piece from rim to base. Moderate variation from sink to sink is normal: the amount of purple, the width of the bands and where they fall on the bowl differ with every block.

Where to use it
A vessel sink puts the stone on show, and with veining this strong the bowl tends to become the focal point of the bathroom. It sits comfortably in a modern or contemporary room with plain walls and simple fittings, and it works just as well in a traditional or transitional bath where the purple can be picked up in textiles or paint. At 16 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, it is roomy enough for daily use in a primary bath while staying compact on a powder room vanity. The bowl takes a standard 1.5 inch drain, and it pairs with a tall deck-mounted faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Marble is a long-standing choice for bathrooms, which see far less acid than kitchens, so the stone holds up well here.

Installation
Solid marble is heavy, so the counter under the bowl must be flat, level and strong. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the drain opening, and the sink is set in a bead of silicone so it cannot shift. Because the bowl stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet must reach over the rim: a tall vessel faucet on the deck or a spout mounted on the wall behind it. Choosing the faucet before the counter is cut avoids a second hole later. A professional installer is recommended, both for the weight of the stone and to line up the drain cleanly.

Why we chose it

Made to order
This bowl is offered on two schedules. The 5 to 7 business day option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. Both are the same 16 by 6 inch polished sink. Calacatta Viola can also be carved in a custom size or finish for a vanity that needs something different. To start a custom order, contact us with the counter dimensions.
Calacatta Viola is a calcite marble, rated 3 on the Mohs scale, and like all marble it is porous, so acids can etch the polished face and pigments can stain it if left to sit. Sealing slows absorption without making the stone immune to stains, and how often it is resealed depends on how much the bathroom is used.
