Calacatta Viola with a 10 inch backsplash
This rectangular wall-mount sink is carved from a single block of Calacatta Viola marble quarried in Turkey. Every sink is cut individually, so no two pieces are identical. The stone has a bright white base with dramatic purple and gray veining, and the polished surface brings that contrast forward. It measures 16 inches wide, 32 inches long and 10 inches high, a size with real presence that still fits a standard bathroom wall.

Design
Basin and backsplash in one block
The 10 inch backsplash is carved from the same block as the basin, so the sink and the wall guard are one continuous piece of marble. There are no grout lines and no separate materials, and the veining runs from the basin up into the backsplash. The polished finish reflects the light and sharpens the purple and gray lines against the white. The edges are curved and the basin is smoothly sculpted, so there are no tight corners to clean around, and the shape lets water drain away instead of pooling. Moderate color variation between pieces is normal for Calacatta Viola, and the exact pattern of the veining will differ from one sink to the next. The marble takes changes in water temperature well and has been used in Mediterranean and European building for centuries.

Where to use it
A floating sink with a guard
Mounted on the wall, the sink leaves the floor clear, and the backsplash protects the wall behind it from splashes. The 1 inch bracket space underneath leaves room for standard wall-mount hardware, and the 1.77 inch drain hole works with standard drain fittings. The sink can also be set above a vanity where a wall mount is not practical. At 32 inches long it suits a primary bath or a generous powder room. The dramatic veining stands out in a minimal room and holds its own against a dark wall, and it works with brass, nickel or black fittings.

Installation
Plan the wall before it arrives
Solid marble is heavy, and this sink includes a full backsplash, so the wall needs blocking between the studs at the mounting height to carry the brackets. Add it while the wall is open. With the backsplash tight to the wall, the faucet is usually mounted on the wall above it, so its height and the supply lines are planned before tile goes up. If the sink is set above a vanity instead, the top must be flat, level and strong, with the drain hole cut to line up. A professional installer is recommended.

Care
Calacatta Viola is a porous calcite marble, so acids such as vinegar or lemon can etch the polished surface. Sealing guards against water and oil soaking in, and how often it is resealed depends on use.
