Black Handcrafted Andesite Vessel Sink Tapered Matte 16 Inch
Thank you, your request is in.
Our team will review the details and get back to you within one business day.

Andesite · Above-Countertop sink
This round vessel sink is sculpted from black andesite quarried in Turkey, a dense volcanic stone that is carved and finished by hand. It measures 16 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, with a tapered profile that narrows toward the base. The deep black reads as solid and almost void-like, a strong note in a minimalist bathroom. Each sink comes from its own block of stone, so it arrives with its own natural texture and small shifts in colour that no factory mold can copy.

Design
The bowl slopes inward from the rim to a narrower base, giving the sink a conical outline. That taper is practical as well as visual: hands naturally sit deeper inside the bowl, which means less water splashing over the edge, and the narrow base takes up less counter space than a straight-sided basin. The edges are smooth and curved, with no sharp step where the bowl meets the counter, so there is no tight corner at the base for dust to collect. The finish is honed-matte. Honing leaves the stone smooth with a soft, muted look, and the black deepens noticeably when the surface is wet. A matte face shows fewer water spots and fingerprints than a glossy one, and it stays slip-resistant under wet hands. The walls are 2 to 3 cm thick, solid stone from rim to base. Moderate colour variation between pieces is normal for andesite, so the texture and depth of black differ slightly from sink to sink.

Where to use it
Black stone vessel sinks pair well with lighter counters, wood vanities and contemporary brassware, and this one leans modern without being cold. In a minimalist or transitional bathroom the black recedes quietly; on a pale counter it becomes the focal point. Two bowls side by side work on a double vanity, where the tapered form repeats cleanly. Because the sink sits above the counter, it also suits a prefabricated vanity or a partial remodel: there is no undermount cutout, no undermount hardware and no complex counter fabrication. A single drain opening and enough flat counter surface are all it needs. The 4 cm drain hole takes standard drain fittings.

Installation
Solid stone is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry the bowl. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the sink is set in silicone around its base. The bowl stands 6 inches above the counter, so the faucet must reach over the rim: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Choose the faucet before the counter is cut, so the faucet hole lands in the right place relative to the bowl. A plumber then connects the drain and supply lines as with any vessel sink.
Why we chose it

Made to order
This sink is made to order on two production schedules, both in the 16 inch size with the honed-matte finish. The 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. The tapered bowl can also be made in a custom size or a different finish when the standard one does not suit the counter. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the vanity.
Andesite is a dense volcanic stone, but like all natural stone it is still porous, so moisture and strong pigments can find their way in when it is left unsealed, and acidic products can dull the honed surface. Sealing keeps water and stains out, and how often it is resealed depends on use, typically once or twice a year.
