How to Buy Slabs

Slabs are delivered only to a licensed fabricator. Review the delivery requirements before requesting samples.

Do You Have a Fabricator?

Slabs can only be shipped to a licensed fabricator for unloading. We don't recommend shipping slabs to job sites or to non-fabricators. Before requesting samples, make sure you have a fabricator to handle your slabs.

Slabs Are Heavy and Delicate

Special care is required when shipping slabs. There are two shipping methods:

Truck with an A-Frame: Check with your fabricator to see if they are equipped to pick up the slab from our facility where it is located. Your fabricator should contact us to confirm availability and pricing before you order samples. We deliver within 50 miles of the warehouse directly to licensed fabricators only (no job site deliveries).
LTL Shipments by Crate: If your fabricator is more than 50 miles from our slab warehouse, they should ask about pricing for crating and shipping. Please contact us for crating charges and confirm freight costs before ordering slab samples.
Slabs should be handled only by the people listed above. We are not responsible for any damage or liability from slab handling.
Preparation and shipment of slab samples may take 6-9 business days.

Calacatta Lux quartzite, 1 1/4 in, three bundles

Calacatta Lux is a white quartzite with soft gray veins in the style of a Calacatta marble. Three bundles of slabs from one block are listed, each slab 79x122 in and 1 1/4 inch thick. Quartzite is harder than marble. Stock is on request, by quote.

Design

Soft gray veining in a white Lux quartzite

The white has a slight milky depth, as quartzite often does. Gray veins are sparse and thin, crossing on a gentle diagonal, with a few wider gray clouds near one edge. It is a restrained stone. People who like the Calacatta look but want quartzite for a busy kitchen often end up here. The three bundles let a fabricator pick the calmest slabs for the main counter.

Marble look

White ground with soft gray veins.

Quartzite body

A harder stone than marble under daily use.

Where to use it

Three Lux bundles at 79x122 in

It is rated for residential countertops and interior walls in homes and commercial spaces, in kitchens and bathrooms. Three bundles from one block give plenty for counters, an island and a backsplash slab. A licensed fabricator templates, cuts and installs it. We deliver to the shop by A-frame truck within 50 miles of the warehouse, by crated LTL freight beyond.

Why we chose it

Care

Quartzite is dense and resists etching far better than calcite marble. Sealing is still the fabricator's call.
