How to Buy Slabs

Slabs are delivered only to a licensed fabricator. Review the delivery requirements before requesting samples.

Do You Have a Fabricator?

Slabs can only be shipped to a licensed fabricator for unloading. We don't recommend shipping slabs to job sites or to non-fabricators. Before requesting samples, make sure you have a fabricator to handle your slabs.

Slabs Are Heavy and Delicate

Special care is required when shipping slabs. There are two shipping methods:

Truck with an A-Frame: Check with your fabricator to see if they are equipped to pick up the slab from our facility where it is located. Your fabricator should contact us to confirm availability and pricing before you order samples. We deliver within 50 miles of the warehouse directly to licensed fabricators only (no job site deliveries).
LTL Shipments by Crate: If your fabricator is more than 50 miles from our slab warehouse, they should ask about pricing for crating and shipping. Please contact us for crating charges and confirm freight costs before ordering slab samples.
Slabs should be handled only by the people listed above. We are not responsible for any damage or liability from slab handling.
Preparation and shipment of slab samples may take 6-9 business days.

Madeirus is a black quartzite with white and wine colored veins. The slab is 1 1/4 inch thick and 77x128 in, and the block photo shows a high shine. The supplier did not name the finish. Stock is on request, priced by quote.

Design

Black Madeirus with white and wine veins

The black is deep and glassy in the photo. Long white veins stream across it horizontally, joined by thinner lines of dark wine red that only show up close. The effect is like rain on a dark window. Paired with white walls or pale oak, the slab becomes the darkest, strongest thing in the room, which is usually the point. Under pendants the white veins flash where the light hits, and from across the room the slab looks almost solid black with a few silver streaks.

This quartzite is rated for residential countertops and interior walls in homes and commercial interiors, in a kitchen or a bathroom. A black island under pendant lights shows the veins well. A licensed fabricator templates, cuts and installs it, and we ship to the shop by A-frame truck within 50 miles of the warehouse, or by crated LTL freight beyond.
